Can Current HDB Flat Owners Purchase Private Residential Property (Local and Overseas)?

Flat owners* who have purchased flats directly from HDB, resale flats from the open market or DBSS flats directly from Developer can purchase private residential property (both local and overseas) only after the minimum occupation period for their HDB flat is met.

* Singapore Permanent Resident flat owners and/or essential family members of the flat are required to notify HDB of their purchase of the local private residential property before they exercise the Option-To-Purchase (OTP) for the property. They would also be required to undertake to sell their HDB flat within 6 months of acquisition of a completed or uncompleted local private residential property. (For uncompleted local private residential property, owners will have to sell their HDB flat within 6 months of TOP or obtaining the keys to the private residential property.)
